Three S&T teams head to EQ competition

Three teams of Missouri S&T students will pitch their ideas in a “shark tank” style competition at the University of Missouri System’s Entrepreneur Quest (EQ) program. The teams will compete against each other, and the top three finalists from the other UM System campuses during the EQ final rounds that will take place in conjunction with the system’s Entrepreneurial Educator Summit on Friday, April 5, in Columbia.

ElGawady shares expertise in four Asian countries

Dr. Mohamed ElGawady delivered the keynote address at the seventh annual International Jordanian Civil Engineering Conference, in May in Amman, Jordan. He also presented a pre-conference workshop about design of masonry structures. ElGawady is an associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, and Benavides Faculty Scholar.

University receives $1.4 million grant for transportation center

Missouri S&T is one of 35 universities to receive a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to establish a University Transportation Center (UTC). Missouri S&T received a $1.4 million UTC “tier 1” grant to develop robotic tools to inspect and maintain bridges and portions of highway from the air or from the side of the structure.
