Dr. Lucie Johannes Sommer, a metallurgical engineering graduate, will give the 10th annual Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in Room 204 McNutt Hall. Moats awarded medal for metallurgy achievements

Dr. Michael Moats, associate professor of metallurgical engineering, was awarded the James Douglas Gold Medal at the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration’s (SME) annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in February. The award is administered by SME and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS).
