Updates for the S&T community
Carter Glynn, a master’s degree student in metallurgical engineering, was a guest columnist for The American Ceramic Society Bulletin. During the copper production process, a byproduct of impurities forms fine black solids, also called “slimes.” Tellurium is extracted from the slimes through a process called decopperization; however, recovery rates are inconsistent and inefficient. Glynn’s research focuses on slimes and how the recovery of tellurium changes based on its composition.
