Students can apply for the Joe Mooney scholarship

The Joe Mooney Distinguished Student Award is granted to S&T students who are in their sophomore or junior year and is intended to recognize leadership and service. One award is given to an outstanding member of an organization, the other is given to an outstanding officer of an organization. Selected students will each receive $175 from the Miner Alumni Association. Find out more and submit a nomination form online. The nomination deadline is Friday, April 1.

Students can apply for the Student Leadership Scholarship

The Miner Alumni Association’s Student Leadership Award Endowed Scholarship is a $1,650 scholarship awarded to a student who demonstrates academic excellence, service to the campus and community, personal objectives and goals, potential and quality recommendations. Caught in the Act Week 2

Caught in the Act is now underway. Twenty-two employees have been nominated from Missouri S&T for practicing Random Acts of Wellness. The winner from Week 2 is Sujeong Kim, who was nominated by Melissa Hill. Sujeong will receive a yoga ball, which can be used as a piece of ergonomic equipment.

Southwinds’ deadline extended to Feb. 14

The campus creative arts magazine, Southwinds, has extended its deadline for all submissions for the 2016 issue to Sunday, Feb. 14. Dare to share your original poems, stories, artwork and photographs and submit them at the Southwinds website, southwinds.mst.edu or by emailing them to swinds@mst.edu. Copies of Southwinds 2015 are available in the English and technical communication department and in the Curtis Laws Wilson Library. For questions about submission, contact Southwinds president Korynne Hendges, or the club’s faculty advisor, Dr. Anne Cotterill.

Library book sale Feb. 11

Curtis Laws Wilson Library will hold a book sale 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in the lobby of the library. Paperbacks will be $0.50 and soft covers will be $1, hard covers will be $2. The library will also sell folio maps for $4. Come in and check out hundreds of items at unbeatable prices. This sale will be held at 400 W. 14th Street. You cannot park right at the building, so be prepared to park on city street parking spaces and walk to the building.

Students to take NSSE survey

On February 9, freshmen and seniors will be invited by email to fill out the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). This is their best opportunity to share their educational experiences at Missouri S&T. The results will be used to support regional/specialized accreditation efforts as well as foster program improvement, student retention and success.
