The self-appraisal window for Missouri S&T full-time benefit-eligible employees will open Tuesday, March 15, and close on Thursday, March 31. The self-appraisal is optional; however, it is recommended and some supervisors will require them. The self-appraisal window will be open until March 31, then it will no longer be accessible. Following that, managers will complete their phase of the appraisal process.

Abstracts for this year’s Complex Adaptive Systems 2016 Conference are due to complexsystems.mst.edu by Monday, March 21. The conference, sponsored in part by Missouri S&T’s engineering management and systems engineering department, will be held Nov. 2-4 in Los Angeles, with the theme “Engineering Cyber Physical Systems: Applying Theory to Practice.” Cyber physical systems, intelligent and adaptive systems, data science and analytics, next generation neural networks, emerging technologies, and complexity are the main topics of the conference. Share your research results in these areas with others in academia, industry and government by submitting a 200-word abstract. The S&T Hispanic Film Series will screen “After Lucía,” a Mexican drama with English subtitles, at 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, in Room 104 Physics Building. This is a free event, and is open to the public.

McCownGordon Construction will present “Communication in the Workplace,” at noon Wednesday, March 9, in Room 305 Norwood Hall. Students should bring their S&T ID with them to the event.

Rogers Group will present “Vertically Integrated Companies: How to Shine as a Candidate,” at noon Thursday, March 10, in Room 305 Norwood Hall. Students should bring their S&T ID with them to the event.

Registration for the 2016 Teaching and Learning Technology Conference on March 17-18 is now open. This year’s theme is “Learning to Learn.” The opening keynote speaker will be Dr. Linda Nilson, founding director of the Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation at Clemson University. Registration is available online, and attendance is free for all participants.

Tuesday, March 1, is the deadline to apply for the 2016-17 Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experiences (OURE) program. Applications are due no later than Tuesday, March 1, to Room 105 Norwood Hall. For more information, visit the department’s website. Students can also apply to be an OURE Fellow by applying to the same location by Tuesday, March 1.

Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) will present a technical talk on “Stormwater Management” at noon Thursday, March 3, in Room 305 Norwood Hall. Students are asked to bring their student ID.

Join other S&T students, faculty and staff members in a Gonzo Gives Back service project in the Rolla or St. James communities for St. Pat’s. Groups will be assigned to service projects throughout the area from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17.  Check-in will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Havener Center dining area.  Service projects will run from about 10:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. After the Day of Service, return to campus to participate in Gonzo and Games and grab some lunch. Don’t forget to wear green!
