Did you know that as faculty and staff, you can report student career outcomes to career opportunities and employer relations (COER)? The career outcomes survey is not just a COER issue, it’s a campus issue. If you have information on where a student is going after graduation, you can report it to COER so that more outcomes can be recorded. To report student career outcomes, contact COER at 341-4343 or email career@mst.edu. You can also contact COER Director Dr. Edna Grover-Bisker.
Higher education is a partnership of many units working collaboratively to ensure retention, steer students towards success and capture every student’s career outcome. Students share career outcome information with professors, academic advisers, student financial services representatives, leaders of student organizations and other university staff. These sources are vital in the data collection process and can be included in the Missouri S&T dataset.
The Missouri S&T knowledge rate (the percentage of students we have career outcome information on) was 77 percent last year (2014/15), up from 75 percent the previous year – but the goal is 100 percent. Reporting career outcomes helps the university (rankings and reputation), individual academic departments, inform student salary negotiations and make Missouri S&T degrees more valuable.
