The university’s strategic plan was updated by the Chancellor’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion to include additional actions to make the campus a more welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff. The latest version of the plan has been uploaded and can be viewed online.

The 12th annual Missouri S&T Undergraduate Research Conference will be held Monday, April 11, in the Havener Center. This event provides opportunities for students to showcase research efforts to the campus community and to the public. The registration deadline is Tuesday, March 8. Registration materials are available online.

The Learning Across Disciplines (LEAD) program provides free walk-in tutoring and faculty-led learning centers in over 60 courses this semester. LEAD sessions are available for all the introductory courses in math, chemistry, physics and computer science. Tell students to check out the updated LEAD schedule to see if assistance is offered in their courses.

Missouri S&T’s surplus property will have a public garage sale 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the warehouse at 301 N. Bishop Ave. in Rolla. Items will include desks, bicycles, chairs, computer systems, laptop computers, laptop bags, pictures, electronics, tables, file cabinets and more.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2016 Woman of the Year, an annual award that recognizes female, full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty who serve as valuable role models for female students at S&T and have contributed to the university through their research, scholarship, teaching and service.

The next Faculty First Friday lunch will be held Friday, March 4. These informal lunches provide an opportunity to network and share ideas with faculty colleagues and university administration. The brown-bag lunch will be held noon-1 p.m. in the John O. Farmer Alumni Lounge in Hasselmann Alumni House, located at 1100 N. Pine St. Participants should bring their own lunch, and the chancellor’s office will provide drinks (iced tea, water and coffee) and desserts.

The next lunch will be held on May 5; Faculty First Friday will not be held in April because the first Friday of the month overlaps with spring break.
