Performers needed for Black History Month celebration

Do you sing, dance, play a musical instrument, perform spoken word or perform another form of entertainment that you’d like to showcase at the 2017 Black History Month celebration? Sign up today on the Leadership and Cultural Progams section of Orgsync. Organizers want people from all backgrounds who can demonstrate how black culture has influenced them or their performance. All participants must be available for rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, and for the celebration at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. Flags at half-staff for Pearl Harbor remembrance Dec. 7

FLSA changes effective today

Changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for the University of Missouri are effective today, Thursday, Dec. 1. More information will be coming soon from the University of Missouri System. The Fair Labor Standards Act is a federal law that establishes the federal minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping and child labor standards. In May, the U.S. Department of Labor announced changes to the FLSA.

Filming of ‘active shooter’ video planned Dec. 4

Faculty are invited to a “Faculty First Friday lunch” noon-1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Hasselmann Alumni House. At the informal event, faculty can network and share ideas with colleagues and university leaders. Participants should bring their lunch, and the chancellor’s office will provide drinks and desserts.

United Way of Phelps County still needs our help

The S&T campaign for the United Way began in late October and is ongoing. United Way of Phelps County raises money for emergency food and shelter, child abuse and neglect prevention, youth character development, senior citizen nutrition, community health care and many other services in the county.
