41 S&T faculty members honored for outstanding teaching

Forty-one faculty members have received the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2016-17. The winners were recognized at a ceremony in November. The Outstanding Teaching Award is given each year to faculty members by the Outstanding Teaching Award committee, which bases its selections on student evaluations.

Geologist named AAAS fellow

Dr. Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe, professor of geology and geophysics, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She receives the recognition for her contributions to the advancement of palynology — the study of organic-walled microfossils such as pollen and spores — and her outstanding efforts in educating the next generation of Earth scientists.

AAEES awards go to two faculty

American Concrete Institute honors two faculty

Two faculty members in the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department are being honored by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Dr. Kamal Khayat and Dr. Dimitri Feys will receive awards at the ACI spring 2018 Concrete Convention and Exposition in Salt Lake City in March.

Fogg heads to Paris as visiting scholar

Dr. Shannon Fogg, chair and professor of history and political science, will serve as a visiting scholar in Paris in January. She will serve at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). The EHESS trains postgraduate students in social sciences.
