Computer science seminar set for Sept. 18

Dr. Kenneth Calvert will present a lecture titled, “An Overview of CISE Research Programs and Directions,” 10-10:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in Room 209 Computer Science Building. Calvert is the Division Director for Computer and Network Systems in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Directorate at the National Science Foundation.

Learn about climate survey results at today’s town hall

The results of the campus climate survey conducted last fall will be presented to the campus community during an open forum 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 14) in St. Pat’s B of the Havener Center. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. The event will be livestreamed at climatesurvey.mst.edu for those unable to attend. Representatives from the consulting firm Rankin & Associates Consulting, which conducted the survey for Missouri S&T, will present the results.

Sign up for parade of nations Sept. 30

International students and scholars are invited to participate in the Celebration of Nations parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in Rolla. One of the highlights of the parade is the many students and community members carrying flags from their home countries. Building better bridges — RE-CAST newsletter highlights field implementation

The Summer 2017 newsletter for the Research on Concrete Applications for Sustainable Transportation (RE-CAST) University Transportation Center is now available online. The issue features several field implementation projects, including replacing a bridge deck near Taos, Missouri, using research findings on steel fiber concrete.
