Computer Science bridge to temporarily close

The INSPIRE University Transportation Center, with permission and the cooperation of S&T’s facilities operations staff, is conducting research testing on the Computer Science Building’s pedestrian bridge beginning today (Friday, June 29) and continuing intermittently through the end of September. The bridge and adjoining sidewalk beneath the bridge will be closed 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, July 2. Please use the east or south entrances to access the building.

Volunteers needed for Missouri S&T’s largest hackathon

Hundreds of college students will come together for 36 hours of coding, problem solving and team building during Missouri S&T’s hackathon, ShamHacks, from Friday, Feb. 9, through Sunday, Feb. 11, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A and B of the Havener Center. Volunteers are sought to help staff the event, which will begin with an opening ceremony at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and conclude with a closing ceremony and hacker showcase at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11. S&T faculty receive grants for affordable, open educational resources

Six Missouri S&T faculty are working to help students save money on textbooks with grants from the University of Missouri System. The grants are provided through the UM System Affordable & Open Educational Resources (A&OER) initiative. The program encourages faculty experimentation and innovation in finding new, better and less costly ways to deliver learning materials to students. McMillin serving on board of directors for ABET society

Dr. Bruce McMillin, associate dean for research and external relations in the College of Engineering and Computing and professor of computer science, has been named to a three-year term on the board of directors of CSAB. CSAB is the lead society within the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for accreditation of degree programs in computer science, information systems, software engineering, information technology and cybersecurity.

Biology student wins Renaissance Student Award
