ISC poster presentation winners announced

The winners of the 13th annual Intelligent Systems Center (ISC) poster presentation competition for graduate students were announced Nov. 1. The winners, chosen from 27 participants, are:

  • First place: Islam Elnabarawy, graduate student in computer science, for his poster, “Evolving Fuzzy Distance Measures for Adaptive Resonance Theory Using a Genetic Programming Hyper-Heuristic”
  • Second place: Krishnan Raghavan, a Ph.D. student in computer engineering, for the poster, “Direct Error Driven Learning for Deep Neural Networks in Applications Generating Big Data”
  • Third place: Wei Li, a Ph.D. student in computer engineering, for the poster, “DEM-CFD Modeling Analysis of Pre-Mixed Powder Flow in Laser Metal Deposition Process.”

Each student will be presented a prize at an award luncheon with Dr. Ming Leu, ISC director; Frank Liou, symposium chair; and student advisors Dr. Donald Wunsch, Dr. Daniel Tauritz and Dr. Jagannathan Sarangapani.
