The winners of the 13th annual Intelligent Systems Center (ISC) poster presentation competition for graduate students were announced Nov. 1. The winners, chosen from 27 participants, are:
- First place: Islam Elnabarawy, graduate student in computer science, for his poster, “Evolving Fuzzy Distance Measures for Adaptive Resonance Theory Using a Genetic Programming Hyper-Heuristic”
- Second place: Krishnan Raghavan, a Ph.D. student in computer engineering, for the poster, “Direct Error Driven Learning for Deep Neural Networks in Applications Generating Big Data”
- Third place: Wei Li, a Ph.D. student in computer engineering, for the poster, “DEM-CFD Modeling Analysis of Pre-Mixed Powder Flow in Laser Metal Deposition Process.”
Each student will be presented a prize at an award luncheon with Dr. Ming Leu, ISC director; Frank Liou, symposium chair; and student advisors Dr. Donald Wunsch, Dr. Daniel Tauritz and Dr. Jagannathan Sarangapani.
