Apply to speak at your commencement ceremony

Graduating seniors, master’s degree students and Ph.D. students from each college are encouraged to apply for selection as a student speaker for their Spring 2019 commencement ceremony on Friday, May 17, or Saturday, May 18. The speakers, who are selected through an application process and competition, must be members of the graduating class they plan to address.

Applications are due by 8 a.m. Friday, March 1, to Krista Chambers, program support coordinator in the office of the provost, at krista@mst.edu. To read the guidelines and download an application, please visit the provost’s website at provost.mst.edu/commencementstudentspeaker.

Today is deadline for student commencement speaker applicants

Missouri S&T’s student commencement speaker program has been expanded so that all graduating students can apply for the opportunity to speak at their commencement ceremony on May 12. Students who will be receiving their Ph.D., master’s degree or bachelor’s degree at the May ceremony may apply. The application deadline for all students is 4 p.m. today (Monday, March 5). Applications for student commencement speakers due today

The Commencement Student Speaker Committee invites you to encourage graduating students to apply for the chance to address the Spring 2018 graduating class at their commencement ceremonies in May. The committee will select a total of four students to speak at the commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 12: two students, one from each college, at each ceremony. To be considered as a finalist for a live audition, students must be members of the spring 2018 graduating class and apply online by Monday, Feb. 26.

Student commencement speakers selected

The Winter 2017 commencement ceremonies will feature student speakers. Undergraduate students were invited this fall to compete for the chance to become one of four speakers. The following individuals will present their speeches during their graduation ceremony Saturday, Dec. 16, in Gale Bullman Building:

Morning ceremony at 10 a.m.

  • Madison Morris, bachelor of science in biology, representing the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business
  • Dajae Moe Williams, bachelor of science in engineering management, representing the College of Engineering and Computing

Afternoon ceremony at 3:30 p.m.

  • Lauren Cockrum, bachelor of science in business and management systems, representing the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business
  • Kelcy Yunghans, bachelor of science in electrical engineering, representing the College of Engineering and Computing
