Researchers from across the University of Missouri System are invited to attend the UM System Model Organism Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 1, and Friday, Oct. 2. The two-day event will showcase discoveries using genetic and experimental model systems while creating opportunities for collaboration among researchers across campuses.

The symposium opens with a welcome session and reception on Oct. 1, followed by a full day of research talks, poster presentations and networking on Oct. 2. Undergraduate and graduate researchers are especially encouraged to participate and present their work. Research involving traditional model organisms, as well as biomedical research using nonmodel organisms, is welcome.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Mayssa Mokalled, associate professor of developmental biology at Washington University in St. Louis, will deliver the keynote address.

Registration is $50 for principal investigators and senior scientists and $30 for trainees. The deadline to register and submit poster presentation abstracts is Friday, Sept. 25.

Students from laboratories with financial constraints may apply for registration waivers through the conference organizers before registering.
