Are your events missing from Missouri S&T’s online calendar, calendar.mst.edu? As Glinda the good witch told Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, you’ve always had the power. There is no need for ruby red slippers or clicking your heels — just click the orange “submit an event” button at calendar.mst.edu/ to add your event. You’ll be asked to sign in with your university ID and password and then you can include the time, date and other details about the S&T event that you’d like people to attend.

Hundreds of visitors coming to campus tomorrow

Approximately 500 girls in seventh and eighth grades who are interested in math and science will come to campus tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 5) for a STEM day of learning fun, named Expanding Your Horizons. Several school busses will load and unload students near the 11th St. and Main St. entrance to Leach Theatre 7:45-9:45 a.m. and 2:15-3:15 p.m.

Library card swipe access now starts at 10 p.m.

You asked and the library staff listened. After switching on Sept. 10 to 24-hour library access at the Curtis-Laws Wilson Library, the S&T community provided feedback and the staff has decided patrons would be better served with card access beginning at 10 p.m. daily instead of 8 p.m. daily. With this update, the library also extends community guest services to 10 p.m.

HLC accreditation visit planned Oct. 8-9, forums scheduled

A team of peer reviewers representing the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) will be on campus Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8 and 9, as part of the accreditation process for Missouri S&T, and several forums will be held on Monday, Oct. 8, to help the reviewers assess whether S&T meets HLC’s criteria for accreditation. Ready for a big day of birding?

Join the Global Big Day birding event Saturday, Oct. 6, at S&T’s Ozark Research Field Station in Newburg. Beginning and advanced birders, naturalists and anyone interested in finding out more about the field station are welcome. Tours are at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Participants will count birds and submit the data to track bird numbers and migration to The Cornell Lab.
