Learn about, watch drones fly at demo

The next Center for Research in Energy and Environment seminar will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Room 121 of Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The topic will be “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Applications for Remote Sensing of Environment and More.” Also known as drones, the university’s UAVs will be displayed in the atrium of Butler-Carlton. Weather permitting, the MinerFly team will give a drone demonstration at Schuman Park following the lecture. The drone demonstration will start at approximately 4:15 p.m.

Who’s afraid of the Haunted Mine?

Tours will be held 6-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20; Saturday, Oct. 21; Friday, Oct. 27; Saturday, Oct. 28, and Halloween night on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Informational meeting planned on Materials Research Center

Guide students to LEAD course assistance

The Learning Enhancement Across Disciplines (LEAD) program provides free walk-in tutoring and faculty-led learning centers in over 60 courses this semester. This includes all introductory courses in math, chemistry, physics and computer science, and full operation of several more learning centers. Today is application deadline for student commencement speakers

The Commencement Student Speaker Committee will select two students, one from each college, to speak at each of the commencement ceremonies on Dec. 16. The application deadline is today (Monday, Oct. 9). To be considered as a finalist for a live audition, students must apply at stuaff.mst.edu/speaker and provide a copy of their proposed speech and resume.
