Final session planned for test anxiety workshop
Counseling services will offer the final session of “Worriers to Warriors: Conquering Test Anxiety; to help students learn to manage performance anxiety and perform better academically. The series final session will be held 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, March 2. Please remind students to call counseling services at 341-4211 for the location and to reserve a spot. Space is limited and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Let’s Talk” is a program that provides easy access to informal confidential conversations with clinicians from counseling services. No appointment is necessary. The first session will be offered 10-11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, in Room 312 of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library.

Applications for student commencement speakers due today
The Commencement Student Speaker Committee invites you to encourage graduating students to apply for the chance to address the Spring 2018 graduating class at their commencement ceremonies in May. The committee will select a total of four students to speak at the commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 12: two students, one from each college, at each ceremony. To be considered as a finalist for a live audition, students must be members of the spring 2018 graduating class and apply online by Monday, Feb. 26.

Missouri S&T’s new student programs staff will host a new event for the parents and guests of incoming freshmen during upcoming Preview, Registration and Orientation (PRO) Days. While students are meeting with advisors and registering for courses, parents and guests will visit with volunteer students, faculty and staff during a parent social program in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center. All S&T faculty and staff are welcome to attend and talk with incoming Miner families. Refreshments will be served. The Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI) is accepting proposals for the 2018-19 cycle of the Curriculum Development Faculty Grant program. These grants support the planning, development and implementation of new, sustainable curriculum or instruction that infuses one or more of the following skill sets into the undergraduate student experience: entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, innovation, design-thinking and leadership.

The Joe Mooney Distinguished Student Award recognizes leadership and service by S&T students who are in their sophomore or junior years. One award is given to an outstanding member of a recognized student organization; another is given to an outstanding officer of a recognized student organization. Selected students will each receive $1,000. Nominations are due by Thursday, March 1. To submit a nomination, please visit the Miner Alumni Association website.
