Join the Missouri S&T community to honor the memory of Matthew Shepard and others who have lost their lives due to hate 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the atrium of the Havener Center.
Shepard was a student at the University of Wyoming when he was murdered because of his sexual orientation on Oct. 12, 1998, near Laramie, Wyoming. The crime against Shepard spurred a national conversation and movement against hate.
Missouri S&T’s event on Oct. 12 begins at 11:30 a.m. and will include lunch, a brief video of Shepard’s story and conversations about how allies can continue to support the LGBTQ community. Luminaries will be placed on the Havener Center’s lawn at 5 p.m.
