Nominations for Service Learning, Experiential Learning awards due Dec. 1

Nominate a faculty or staff member for the Experiential Learning Award or the Service Learning Award. Faculty, staff, students and community partners may submit nominations for these awards. Nominations are due Friday, Dec. 1. Nominations must include: a signed nomination form, nominator supporting statement (limit of two pages), and up to three letters of support (limit one page each). The materials must be in one PDF submission sent to Dedie Wilson, experiential learning specialist, at byfieldr@mst.edu, by Friday, Dec. 1.

Open meeting planned on Center for Science, Technology and Society

Pile on the pancakes to support Miner Challenge

The Delta Sigma Phi House will be the site of Miner Challenge’s second annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at 215 W. 8th Street in Rolla. All proceeds will to the Miner Challenge Alternative Break Program and support costs for travel, lodging, food, and scholarships for five upcoming volunteer trips.

Counseling services offers “Living with Loss” sessions

Our campus has experienced multiple losses and many within our S&T community continue to mourn. While grief is a personal and individual experience, common reactions include shock, disbelief, sadness, numbness, anger, guilt and confusion. Living with Loss offers a safe space to share experiences, give and receive support, learn about the process of grieving and explore coping strategies. Living with Loss sessions are free and confidential. Dr. Patti J. Fleck, director of counseling services, will facilitate a session at 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. If you want to participate, please contact counseling services in Room 204 Norwood Hall or by calling 341-4211 for the meeting location.

Send a cookie, support student emergency fund

Thank a staff or faculty member for their help this semester by sending a cookie gram. The human resources department is holding a cookie gram fundraiser to spread holiday cheer and support Missouri S&T’s student emergency fund. Orders are due Friday, Dec. 1. Cookie grams will include gingerbread cookies and handmade gift tags. They cost $1.50 for one cookie; $3.50 for three cookies and $6 for six cookies. Cold milk will be delivered with orders of $5 and more.

Choir to perform at Missouri Governor’s Mansion

The Missouri S&T Choir has been selected to perform at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion Candlelight Tours in Jefferson City, an annual holiday celebration typically attended by more than 3,000 individuals. The choir will perform at 7:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, under the direction of Lorie Francis, associate teaching music professor.
