Read More »Leach Theatre received two grants totaling more than $15,000 for performances in their 2017-18 season. Grants from the Missouri Arts Council and the Mid-America Arts Alliance will support the performances of Wahzhazhe: An Osage Ballet on Friday, Sept. 8, and All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 on Monday, Nov. 27. Both performances will provide educational and outreach components for the campus community.
Read More »Dr. Daniel Oerther, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, recently received two honors. Oerther has been elected to a two-year term as program chair of the engineering and public policy division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Additionally, the Missouri Milk, Food and Environmental Health Association has certified him as an environmental health specialist.
Read More »Doug Roberts, chief of University Police, presented S&T police officer Zach Goodridge with a lifesaving award at the department’s quarterly staff meeting on June 9 for Goodridge’s response to a medical emergency. Goodridge, along with Rolla police officer Christopher Giacolone, performed CPR on an individual in cardiac arrest at the Havener Center on Feb. 25. Chief Roberts also presented Giacolone with a lifesaving award at the Rolla police station.
Read More »Dr. Dimitri Feys, assistant professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has received a $50,000 grant from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Foundation for research on self-consolidating concrete, or SCC. Feys is the principal investigator of the research project, which is titled “Minimizing the Effect of Pumping on SCC Workability and Freeze-thaw Durability.” The project was one of four selected by the ACI Foundation’s Concrete Research Council.
Read More »Dr. Xiaoping Du, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Missouri S&T, is the 2017 recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Du, who teaches introduction to engineering design, dynamics and probabilistic engineering design, has been a member of the S&T faculty since 2002.

Read More »Dr. Martin Bohner, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of mathematics and statistics, is an author of a new textbook on calculus time scales for undergraduate and graduate students. Multivariable Dynamic Calculus on Time Scales, published by Springer International Publishing, is available as an eBook and a hardcover textbook. Bohner wrote the book with Dr. Svetlin Georgiev, assistant professor of mathematics and informatics at Sofia University in Bulgaria.
