Victoria Hagni recently won first place for her story, “Darien,” in the fiction category of Arts Rolla’s 11th bi-annual writing competition. Hagni is an instructional developer in educational technology at S&T.
Winners were honored at a ceremony on Oct. 28 in Christ Episcopal Church in Rolla. Arts Rolla is a regional not-for-profit organization created in 1985 to bring art and communities together by supporting and growing visual, literary and performing arts. This is a competition that the community holds for fiction, essays and poetry.
Hagni recently traveled to Georgia where she studied alongside photojournalists. She used many of the skills she picked up at that educational retreat to tell the hidden history behind a black church in southeast Georgia.
