Three physics students win Schearer Prize

Basu Lamichhane, Chandra Adhikari and Ahmed Ibrahim are winners of the 2017 Schearer Prize, awarded at the Missouri S&T physics department’s annual graduate research competition. The award is named in memory of Laird D. Schearer, the department’s first Curators’ Distinguished Professor of physics.

Cudney recognized by ASQ for Six Sigma book

Dr. Beth Cudney, associate professor of engineering management and systems engineering, received the Philip B. Crosby Medal from the American Society for Quality (ASQ). She received the medal as co-author of a “distinguished book contributing significantly to the extension of philosophy and application of the principles, methods or techniques of quality management.”

Rodgers’ research published in molecular phylogenetics journal

The master’s thesis of alumna Rachel Rodgers, ChE’09, was recently accepted for publication in Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution. Rodgers’ article, “Phylogenomic analysis of Fundulidae (Teleostei: Cyprinodotiformes) using RNA-sequencing Data” is published in the Dec. 28, 2017, issue of the journal.

Myers named to advisory committee for Bridge Engineering Institute

Jessica Gargus, manager of Miner Wellness, received the 2017 BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA Outstanding Advisor award from the NASPA-Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education. Gargus was presented the award in November at the organization’s annual awards banquet.
