Join student well-being for communication training

Student well-being is hosting “What We Say and How We Listen” on Thursday, June 30. This training is for university employees and is focused on how the language we use shapes the trajectory of our conversations. Topics that will be covered include person and identity first language, LGBTQIA+ affirming language, active listening, and nonverbal communication.

Virginia Tech leader named dean of Arts, Sciences, and Education

Dr. Mehrzad Boroujerdi has been named vice provost and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) at Missouri S&T. Currently director of the School of Public and International Affairs at Virginia Tech, Boroujerdi will take over the position from Dr. Kate Drowne, who served as interim dean since 2019. His appointment will begin July 1.

Enke named interim chair of EMSE

Dr. David Enke, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of engineering management and systems engineering (EMSE), has accepted the role of interim EMSE chair. The appointment is effective July 1, the same day the department joins the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.

Mochalin published in ACS Nano

Dr. Vadym Mochalin, an associate professor of chemistry and materials science and engineering, leads an international team of scientists from the United States, Germany and Australia in discussing  ultrasmall nanodiamonds in fundamental research and applications in an article, titled “Ultrasmall Nanodiamonds: Perspectives and Questions.” The American Chemical Society journal, ACS Nano, recently published the article.
