Resources available for retirement planning

On Jan. 1, 2018, employees’ eligibility for the University of Missouri System’s retiree health insurance plans will change. Eligibility will differ based on whether you fall into category A, B, C or D. Some employees may make the choice to retire in 2017 before the changes are made. UM Total Rewards is offering seminars and one-on-one consultations to help educate faculty and staff in order to make informed decisions. The Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies (CIES) and the Research on Concrete Applications for Sustainable Transportation (RE-CAST) University Transportation Center will host a webinar 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in Room 107 Fulton Hall. Dr. Jeffery Volz, associate professor of civil engineering at the University of Oklahoma, will present “Concrete Pavement Containing High Volumes of Recycled Materials.” Bagels and coffee will be served.

AT&T to host case competition for S&T students

Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to participate in a business and information technology (BIT) case competition sponsored by AT&T in March. Teams of four students will be given a case study from AT&T and one week to find the best solution. The first-place team will receive $1,000 plus a mentoring session with AT&T’s vice president. The second-place team will receive $500 and the third-place team will win $250. Teams can register online.

Rental house available

Student Affairs has a small rental house available for rent to faculty, staff or students beginning Wednesday, March 1. Located close to campus, the house has two bedrooms and one bathroom. Rent is $500 monthly. The house has central air conditioning and utility costs are not included in the rent. A lease agreement and a deposit of $250 is required. Counseling, disability support and student wellness (CDSW) offers a three-session workshop, “Worriers to Warriors: Conquering Test Anxiety,” to help students manage anxiety and perform better academically.
