Stay safe, Miners
Missouri S&T welcomed thousands of new and returning students over the weekend. New students are currently participating in Opening Week. This is “quarantine week” – a time to limit interaction and stay safe to ensure a successful fall semester. Classes will begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24. Everyone at S&T is expected to follow these guidelines now and throughout the semester:
- Check your temperature before coming to campus. If you have a temperature above 100 degrees, do not come to campus.
- Limit gatherings to no more than 10 people – on campus or off campus
- Wear a facial covering in all classrooms, labs and wherever you cannot maintain a physical (social) distance of six feet or more
- Practice social distancing by staying six feet apart from your classmates and colleagues
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds

Lot B-13 and the Havener Center’s visitor parking area, including meter spaces, will be closed Friday, Aug. 21, for Minerama. Lot M-36 will be temporarily closed for maintenance from Friday, Aug. 21, through Sunday, Aug. 23.

Career Fair to be held in video chat environment
Students can skip the lines and won’t need to print several resumes for this semester’s career fair. The event will be held in a virtual environment using the Career Fair Plus App on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Celebration of Nations 2020 to host online events
Missouri S&T’s 11th annual Celebration of Nations will present a series of virtual events this fall in place of an in-person event. Events will begin the final week of September and will be free and open to the public. Be sure to check facebook.com/SandTCelebrationOfNations for updates.

Fitness center reopens, recreation center will be classroom
Missouri S&T’s Fitness Center reopened on Aug. 18 for students. To meet the latest COVID-19 safety recommendations, the fitness center will have reduced capacity limits. It will be open 8 a.m.-2 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 21 and resume regular hours of operation on Monday, Aug. 24.
