Dr. Suzanna Long, chair and professor of engineering management and systems engineering, has been elected to a three-year term as technical vice president for the Institute for Industrial & Systems Engineers. She has previously held several offices for IISE sub-societies. Her term as technical vice president will begin Sunday, April 1.

Two talk disaster recovery at military engineers meeting

They presented, “Post-Disaster Supply Chain Interdependent Critical Infrastructure System Restoration Modeling: A Review of Data Necessary and Available for Modeling.”

The article, “Take the Lead Where Engineering and Business Intersect,” was published June 23. Embedded with the story is a video produced by the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) about Missouri S&T’s engineering management and systems engineering department. University receives $1.4 million grant for transportation center

Missouri S&T is one of 35 universities to receive a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to establish a University Transportation Center (UTC). Missouri S&T received a $1.4 million UTC “tier 1” grant to develop robotic tools to inspect and maintain bridges and portions of highway from the air or from the side of the structure.
