Missouri S&T has named Joni Burch, Ed.D., as the new residential life director. In this role, she will report to Dr. Robin Gore, vice chancellor for student success. Burch brings extensive experience in student housing and a strong commitment to building residential environments where students feel supported, connected and ready to thrive.

Police and fraternities adopt family for holidays
Santa had a little help again this year, thanks to Tau Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Sigma Pi and University Police. Captain Oscar Kemp, Sergeant Bret Turnbough and Officer Anthony Giacolone partnered with the fraternities to adopt three local families for the holidays.

The university presents benefit-eligible staff who have reached milestones in their career with a certificate honoring their contributions, beginning with 5 years of service. The following employees received Milestone Service Recognition Awards in July.

Dr. Joni Burch, associate director for residential life, successfully defended her dissertation exploring student perceptions of independent living skills development as a result of the residence hall experience on campus. She earned her doctorate degree from the educational leadership and policy analysis department at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Enjoy tea and lemonade while creating artwork during a “Paint and Sip” event at S&T’s Staff Appreciation Day Wednesday, May 30. Due to the popularity of the 2017 event, two sessions will be held. Sign-ups are available online for sessions at 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Residential life staff members Joni Burch, associate director of student support services, and Sarah Perry, manager of student support services, will lead the classes.
