Santa had a little help again this year, thanks to Tau Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Sigma Pi and University Police. Captain Oscar Kemp, Sergeant Bret Turnbough and Officer Anthony Giacolone partnered with the fraternities to adopt three local families for the holidays.

They collectively contributed nearly $3,000 and then purchased toys on the wish lists of the children and gave the parents gift cards. They provided a holiday meal and presented the gifts to the family at the Kappa Sigma house on Dec. 11.

Kemp thanks everyone who helped bring a little seasonal magic to the families. He thanks everyone who made contributions, including:

  • Dr. Diana Ahmad, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor emerita of history and political science
  • Dr. Joni Burch, associate director of student support services
  • Stacey Smith, Rolla Central Communications chief.
