Dr. Mehdi Ferdowsi has accepted the position as interim associate dean for research in S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing, effective Sept. 1. He is a professor of electrical and computer engineering and has been working with the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a program director since Sept. 2020.

Guang Xu chairs electric vehicle fire safety workshop
Dr. Guang Xu, associate professor of mining and explosives engineering, organized a BEV fire safety workshop at S&T on June 16. The College of Engineering and Computing and the mining and explosives engineering department sponsored the workshop, and over 70 people attended either in-person or online.

For Latesha Zach, it’s the people she works with that she enjoys most about working at S&T. As a fiscal manager and lead of the Fiscal Service Center team in the College of Engineering and Computing, she manages the fiscal operations and provides financial oversight to CEC’s academic departments.

Engineering and computer science juniors and seniors who want to stay in Rolla for a graduate degree can get a jump start on research through the College of Engineering and Computing’s new Dean’s Undergraduate Research Scholars Program. The first student cohort began this semester; the deadline to apply for summer or fall is Friday, May 13.
