Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering, is one of 73 new fellows of SPIE, the International Society for Optics and Photonics.  He is being recognized for his achievements in sensor research at the SPIE Smart Structures and Nondestructive Evaluation Conference today (Tuesday, March 6) in Denver.

Oerther to lead ASEE program, certified as environmental health specialist

Dr. Daniel Oerther, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, recently received two honors. Oerther has been elected to a two-year term as program chair of the engineering and public policy division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Additionally, the Missouri Milk, Food and Environmental Health Association has certified him as an environmental health specialist.

  • Stephen Corns, associate chair of graduate studies, is featured in an Engineering.com article about Missouri S&T’s master’s degree in engineering management. The article, “Take the Lead Where Engineering and Business Intersect,” was published June 23. Embedded with the story is a video produced by the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) about Missouri S&T’s engineering management and systems engineering department. Faculty recognized at regional ASEE meeting

Missouri S&T was well represented at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Midwest Section annual meeting and conference Sept. 25-27 in Manhattan, Kansas. S&T earned the Faculty-Mile award for attendance. The section includes states of Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

The 2014 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Midwest Conference was held Sept. 24-26 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Missouri S&T attendees were Drs. Rohit Dua, Steve Watkins, Christi Patton Luks, Amardeep Kaur, Stuart Baur, Semih Yildirim, Douglas Carroll, Matt Pierson and Bob Egbert. Missouri S&T was recognized with the Faculty-Mile Award for attendance at the conference.

ASEE Conference continues on campus

Today’s events include a talk titled “A Two-year Experience to ABET Accreditation” by Thomas A. McGovern of St. Louis Community College, a student design poster session and the conference banquet.
