Windows critical updates will occur 1-6 a.m. Saturday, March 17. Please leave your S&T computer powered on and connected to the S&T network over the weekend. Save your files and close applications because your computer will reboot during the update. Grants offered for curriculum development

Proposals are being accepted for S&T’s Curriculum Development Faculty Grant program. It is administered by the Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI). This award supports the implementation of new sustainable curriculum or instruction methods that infuse entrepreneurial-mindset, innovation, creativity, design thinking, or leadership practices directly into the undergraduate student experience.

Grant workshop planned April 10-11 at MU

The Grant Training Center will host a professional grant development workshop 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, and Wednesday, April 11, in Room S016 of Memorial Union at the University of Missouri-Columbia. An online version of the workshop will be held Wednesday, March 21.

McNutt elevator temporarily out of service

St. Pat’s Court arrival planned tomorrow

St. Pat and her court will officially arrive in downtown Rolla at noon Wednesday, March 14, following a procession down Pine Street. The court will preside over follies at the pavilion on 9th and Oak streets near the railroad tracks.

Patricia Ann (Pat) Warner, wife of Dr. Don L. Warner, dean emeritus of the former School of Mines and Metallurgy at Missouri S&T and professor emeritus of geological engineering, died Feb. 26 at her home in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

Forums planned for vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies candidates

Candidates for Missouri S&T’s position of vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies will visit campus beginning this week. Students, faculty and staff are invited to meet the candidates during open forums at the following times:

  • Candidate 1, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center
  • Candidate 2, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, in St. Pat’s A of the Havener Center
  • Candidate 3, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in St. Pat’s B of the Havener Center

Prior to each candidate’s visit, the candidate’s bio and curriculum vitae will be posted at provost.mst.edu/vcrdgs-search. Attendees may also provide feedback at provost.mst.edu/vcrdgs-search following each forum.

St. Pat’s court named, arrival planned March 14

For the first time in its 110-year history, a female student will portray St. Patrick at Missouri S&T’s annual celebrations. Katelyn Jones, a junior in geology and geophysics from Sugar Creek, Missouri, will serve as St. Pat. St. Pat and her court will officially arrive in downtown Rolla at noon Wednesday, March 14. Following a procession through downtown, the court will preside over follies at the pavilion at 9th and Oak streets near the railroad tracks.

UM System offers faculty success program

Tenured faculty and tenure-track faculty can apply for a 12-week Faculty Success Program. The University of Missouri System is a member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), which provides the training. Applicants can choose to participate in a cohort during the summer 2018, fall 2018 or spring 2019 semester. Scholarships are available through the UM System. Applications are due Sunday, April 1. Apply online.
