Tech development expert to speak at S&T

The mechanical and aerospace engineering department and the Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers will host a presentation by Dr. Cynthia Hipwell 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in Room 199 Toomey Hall. Hipwell is a research professor at Texas A&M University and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

Enter your ride in car show

Missouri S&T’s Sigma Alpha Phi chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success will host a free car show noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in Area C Lot 48, at the corner of Bishop Avenue and Ninth Street, near Altman Hall. The event, which is open to the public, will feature music, food vendors, raffles and the chance to vote on the cars. Register online to enter a car in the show. Registration costs $5 per vehicle. Grants available to move technology forward

S&T’s office of technology transfer and economic development is offering Technology Acceleration Grants (TAG) to close the gap between university research and the needs of the customer. In many cases, an industry partner will require a working prototype, test results or the refinement of research. The application deadline is Friday, April 20.

Police training planned March 28 in former TKE house

The Rolla Police Tactical Unit and the Phelps County Warrant Service Team are using the former TKE fraternity house, located on campus next to Bertelsmeyer Hall, for  tactical training sessions. Training is planned 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. Do not be alarmed if you see several police cars and police officers in the area.
