Mentoring Mondays return to campus today

Due to the popularity of the Mentoring Monday program this spring, the university’s colleges are continuing it for the fall starting Monday, Sept. 19. The program, which will meet 2-3 p.m. Mondays in the Silver and Gold Room of the Havener Center, invites faculty working on a proposal to attend with six copies of their one-page statement of work in hand and get feedback from senior researchers.

Surplus property losing building; public auction Sept. 23

Surplus property will lose its building at the end of the month. The University of Missouri System has directed that all pickups be put on hold until after the building is cleared out. To aid in the removal of items, there will be a public auction starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the surplus building located at 301 N. Bishop Ave. in Rolla. If you plan to attend, please bring a photo ID and plan to arrive early to sign up for a bidder’s number.

Hasselmann Alumni House ribbon cutting Sept. 21

The campus community is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Hasselmann Alumni House at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. The event will be hosted by the Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce. Light refreshments will be provided by Missouri S&T catering after the ceremony.

Hands-on faculty Canvas workshop set for Oct. 6

“Faculty Helping Faculty With Canvas,” a hands-on workshop, will be held noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in Room 103 Curtis Laws Wilson Library. This is a chance for faculty to hear from other faculty about tips and tricks to get started with Canvas, moving content, combining courses, configuring settings and notifications, and answering any questions instructors may have from those who have already made the switch from Blackboard. Space is limited; RSVP to Diane Hagni by Oct. 5 to participate.

Share your opinion on campus dining

The Dining Services Contract Steering Committee is gathering information from the campus community to create the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the next dining services contract. The campus community is encouraged to take a dining services survey to express opinions on current dining options and share thoughts on future opportunities. The survey closes on Sept. 23. Open forums will be scheduled to allow campus community members to express ideas and opinions. Three randomly chosen survey respondents will receive gift certificates to the S&T Store.

ADHD Got You Stuck?

The ADHD support group offered by counseling, disability support and student wellness begins at 3 p.m. today (Monday, Sept. 19) in Room 204 Norwood Hall. The support group is free, confidential and convenes all semester. Students are invited to attend whether they have a formal diagnosis or not. Our group focuses on solutions for common issues — disorganization, lack of focus, inability to stay on task and difficulty starting projects.

Parking Area N remains closed through Saturday
