Migration to FreeSWITCH VoIP

Information technology will begin moving the campus to the new FreeSWITCH VoIP System this summer 2014. The conversion will be conducted one department at a time with full implementation completed during the fall 2014 semester. Each department will be contacted prior to the conversion and given a target date to begin the migration.

IT to update web browsers

Information technology (IT) will update web browser software on all IT-managed machines this week. Updates will run when the machine is turned on but not in use. Due to the planned power outage scheduled for Saturday, May 31, IT asks all faculty, staff and students to power down campus computers this Friday, May 30. Machines powered down or off the campus network at the time of update will attempt to perform the update at the next opportunity. For assistance or to check the validity of this message, contact the IT Help Desk by calling 341-4357 (HELP), visit the Walk-In Center on the first floor of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library or submit a ticket online at help.mst.edu.

Quarantine summary replaces Postini

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 14, faculty and staff now receive a daily email quarantine summary containing their incoming messages identified as potential spam. Missouri S&T will no longer use the Postini service. Instead, incoming email processing and spam quarantine will be handled by Google Apps before reaching your mailbox.

TERMINALFOUR upgrade is Jan. 21

IT will upgrade TERMINALFOUR, the university’s web content management system, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21. All faculty and staff are required to be logged out during the upgrade. Most steps for editing and creating items in the new version of TERMINALFOUR will remain the same as the previous version. Main changes include the menu and the look of the “Direct Edit” interface. Documentation will be updated on the web support site, with the addition of training video instructions.

IT help request system upgrade Dec. 14

The online IT help request system will be unavailable all day Saturday, Dec. 14, during the upgrade of the BMC Remedy Service Request Management software. The upgraded version will be easier to use.
