Schedule announced for textbook sell-back, rental return

  • 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, through Friday, May 5, in the store
  • 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 12, in the store
  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, through Thursday, May 11, in TJ Hall

Aerospace engineering expert to present lecture April 27

As part of the MAE Centennial Seminar Series, the mechanical and aerospace engineering department and the Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers will host a presentation by Jeff Thornburg 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Room 199 Toomey Hall Thursday, April 27. Thornburg, president of Insterstellar Technologies LLC, will present “Fast Tracking Innovation in Space Exploration.”

Open forum planned for second CEC dean candidate May 1

Finalists for the vice provost and dean position in the College of Engineering and Computing have been invited for campus interviews. The campus community is invited to an open forum with Dr. Richard Wlezien 3-4 p.m. Monday, May 1. The candidate will participate in a question-and-answer session with CEC faculty 5-6 p.m. that day. Locations for these events will be announced as plans are finalized. Attendees will be asked to share their feedback online.

First CEC dean candidate visiting campus this week

Three candidates for the vice provost and dean position in the College of Engineering and Computing have been invited for campus interviews beginning this week. Faculty, staff and students are invited to an open forum with the first candidate 3-4 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall.

The first candidate will visit campus Thursday and Friday, April 27-28. The first candidate’s bio and curriculum vitae will be posted on provost.mst.edu/cec-dean-search Tuesday, April 25. The second candidate will visit campus Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2. The second candidate’s bio and CV will be posted on provost.mst.edu/cec-dean-search Saturday, April 29. Dates for the third candidate’s visit are to be determined and will be announced when finalized.

Curators to meet on campus this week

The University of Missouri System Board of Curators will be on campus Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28, for the board’s spring meeting. The board, which is the governing body of the four-campus UM System, will meet in the Havener Center. A schedule, including an open public meeting, will be posted on the UM System’s website on Tuesday, April 25.

Farewell reception planned for chancellor

University of Missouri System President Mun Choi invites the campus community to a reception in honor of Dr. Cheryl B. Schrader 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Havener Center Atrium in appreciation of her dedication and service to Missouri S&T and the University of Missouri System. Dr. Schrader, who has served as chancellor of Missouri S&T since April 2012, will become the next president of Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio, on July 1.

Dr. Xian Biao “XB” Hu, a faculty candidate at Missouri S&T, will present “Building A Connected Mobility Management and Analytics-centered Smarter Transportation System” 2:30-3:30 p.m. today (Monday, April 24), in Room 110 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Hu is an affiliate professor at the University of Arizona and director of research and development at Metropia Inc.
