Due to inclement weather, S&T’s Philanthropy Fair, originally scheduled today (Friday, April 28) will be rescheduled for next week. Details will be announced once plans are finalized.

Dr. Alexander Maki will present “The Spread of Behavior: Helping More People Do More for the Planet” at 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, in Room 140 Toomey Hall. Maki is a postdoctoral researcher at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and a faculty candidate at Missouri S&T.

The University of Missouri System Board of Curators is meeting on the Missouri S&T campus today, Thursday, April 27, and tomorrow, Friday, April 28, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A and B of the Havener Center. Today’s meeting will begin at 10 a.m., with Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader presenting highlights of the Missouri S&T strategic plan at approximately 10:10 a.m. Also at today’s meeting, the chancellor will present an update on S&T’s Campus Master Plan for facilities at approximately 2:15 p.m. On Friday, the public session will begin at approximately 9 a.m. The campus community is welcome to attend all open sessions of the two-day meeting. The campus community is invited to attend two open forums for the candidates for vice provost and dean for the College of Engineering and Computing. Following the events, please share your feedback at ceccandidate.mst.edu. The candidates and the forums will be held:

• Open forum with Suvranu De 3-4 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Engineering Hall. Following the forum, De will participate in a question-and-answer session with CEC faculty at 4 p.m., also in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Engineering Hall.
• Open forum with Richard Wlezien 3-4 p.m. Monday, May 1, in Room 204 McNutt Hall. Later that day, Wlezien will participate in a question-and-answer session with CEC faculty at 5 p.m. in Room 315 Butler-Carlton Hall.

Dr. Yongchao Yang, a faculty candidate at Missouri S&T, will present “Full-field Imaging and Modeling of Structural Dynamics” 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Yang is a postdoctoral fellow at the Engineering Institute at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

On Monday, May 1, and Tuesday, May 2, the Fiscal Services department will be closed due to the staff’s relocation to temporary quarters on the third floor of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library. This includes the offices of accounting, budget, cashiers and student loan collection operations. During the move, the staff will have sporadic access to phone and email. The department will reopen Wednesday, May 3, on the third floor of the library. The move is due to a foundation stabilization construction project at Parker Hall that will start soon. Completion of this project is estimated for Fall 2017.

The honorary band service organizations, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, offer to wash windows for $5 per hour. Proceeds from the fundraiser support Missouri S&T’s bands and orchestras. Staff Council is seeking donations for the Staff Day food auction, which will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in the front dining area in the Havener Center. Both faculty and staff are welcome to donate and participate in the auction. If you would like to donate food, please email Julie Creamer, business operations associate, at creamerjb@mst.edu. Food donations will be accepted at the back dock of the Havener Center 7-8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17.

The 2017 GeoMO Conference, “Geophysics and Nondestructive Evaluation in the Assessment and Monitoring of Geotechnical and Infrastructure Systems,” will be held 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in the Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Guest speakers will include Dr. Richard Woods, professor emeritus of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Michigan, and Dr. Nenad Gucunski, professor and chair of environmental engineering at Rutgers University.
