Dr. Susan L. Murray has been named chair of psychological science. Murray had served as interim chair since July 2015. Her appointment takes effect July 1.

The South Central Regional Professional Development Center has moved from 800 University Drive to new office space in Suite E103 in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center’s annex. The annex is located at 1100 W. 10th St. in Rolla.

Dr. Greg Story, an associate professor of physics, will star in a play he wrote, “The Incredible Roscoe’s Boxes of Mystery” at the Lyric Live Theater in Newburg, Missouri. Shows will run on Friday, May 26, Saturday, May 27, Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free, with donations to the Lyric Live Theater accepted. Dessert will be served at the Houston House during intermission. The play is a comedy, which begins as a Vaudeville show, but when things go wrong on stage, turns into a mystery. Story will play the part of The Incredible Roscoe.

Two professors of engineering management and systems engineering at Missouri S&T have been named department chairs and will begin their new roles July 1. Dr. Suzanna Long will become chair of engineering management and systems engineering. Dr. Susan Murray will become chair of psychological science. Both have served as interim chairs of their respective departments since 2015.

Walt Branson, vice chancellor for finance and administration, has named Ted Ruth assistant vice chancellor for facilities services, effective May 1. In this role, Ruth will oversee the departments of facilities operations, design and construction management and environmental health and safety. Ruth formerly served as director of design and construction management.

Nine full-time employees at Missouri University of Science and Technology were honored Wednesday, May 17, for their contributions to the campus during Missouri S&T Staff Recognition Day ceremonies on campus.

The names of all employees were entered into a drawing for door prizes during Staff Recognition Day on May 17. The names of winners are posted on the Missouri S&T Staff Council Facebook page. To pick up your prize, drop by the Silver and Gold Room of the Havener Center by 3:30 p.m. today (Thursday, May 18). If you did not win a prize, you can pick up a 99-cent drink coupon for Sonic at the Silver and Gold Room.

Due to construction in Parker Hall, the registrar’s office staff will temporarily relocate to office space in 105 Centennial Hall. They will be located in Centennial Hall from Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26. Phone numbers will remain the same during this time.

The Fall 2017 Accent Modification Program (AMP) is open to ranked tenure and tenure-track faculty in teaching positions. The classes are designed to advance cultural diversity and understanding by improving overall communication between students and faculty, increasing active participation in campus dialogue, and by promoting confident communication. The free classes are conducted on an individual basis for 14 weeks and scheduled at the convenience of the participant. All materials are provided.
