Choi announces chancellor search during fireside chat
Dr. Mun Choi, president of the University of Missouri System, and Dr. Christopher Maples, interim chancellor of Missouri S&T, led a fireside chat yesterday for the campus community. During the event in Leach Theatre, Choi announced that the national search process for a permanent chancellor will begin in September. He said that an outside firm will not be used for the process and an inclusive search committee comprising students, faculty, staff, alumni and committee members will be instrumental in the search process.

Charlie Cartwright, construction project manager at S&T, died Tuesday, April 17. He joined the university’s design and construction management department in 2013. Visitation will be held 10 a.m.-noon Monday, April 23, followed by a funeral service at noon. Both services will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church at 367 Old Route 66 in St. Robert, Mo.

Missouri S&T’s myPerformance process opened on April 2 for employees to begin completing their self-evaluations. The deadline for these self-appraisals is Sunday, April 22. Deadlines are posted online to help guide and keep the process on track.

The Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies (CIES) will host a research seminar for faculty and students at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Dr. Miguel A. Vicente, associate professor of civil engineering at the University of Burgos in Spain, will give a talk titled “Building Bridges Between Engineers.” Bagels and coffee will be provided.

Read More »Visitors coming to campus for space consortium, discover day, tech conference
Hundreds of visitors are expected on campus in the coming days for the following events:
- The 27th annual spring meeting of the NASA-Missouri Space Grant Consortium will be held in the Havener Center on Friday, April 20, and Saturday, April 21. Attendees on both days will park in Lot H, located at University Drive and Highway 63, or Lot C-48, located at the corner of 11th and Bishop streets.
- Prospective students and families will explore S&T during a Discover Day, hosted by the office of admissions.
- Approximately 650 students will participate in the Missouri Technology Student Association (TSA) State Conference from Sunday, April 22, to Tuesday, April 24. Most activities will be held at the Havener Center and the Student Recreation Center.
Help shape the future of benefits, retirement programs
The University of Missouri System’s Total Rewards Advisory Committee is accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the committee to replace members whose term is set to expire in June 2018. The committee is seeking a faculty member and a staff member from S&T.

Missouri S&T is forming a Safety and Security Committee and needs two staff representatives. This new committee will include staff, student and faculty representatives to help address concerns on campus. Nominations can be submitted to Staff Council at mststaffcouncil@mst.edu. Nominations are due Monday, April 30, in order for the committee to meet before this semester ends.
