ID office to close temporarily June 25-29

The Miner Card ID office will be closed from Monday, June 25, through Friday, June 29, for system updates and maintenance. The office will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, July 2, and resume its summer hours of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Former S&T college dean Russell Buhite dies

Dr. Russell D. Buhite, a professor emeritus of history and political science and a former dean at S&T, died May 27. He was 79. Per his wishes, no memorial service is planned. Before he became an author and a history professor, Buhite was a minor league first baseman and outfielder for the New York Giants, the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Senators. His experiences informed his book, The Continental League.

“Fiesta at High Noon” is the theme of Staff Council’s Staff Appreciation Day. The schedule includes these activities, all in the Havener Center today (Wednesday, May 30):

  • 9-10:30 a.m.: Opening ceremony in St. Pat’s Ballroom
  • 10:30-11:30 a.m.: Paint and sip in the Carver-Turner Room (sign up)
  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Chair massage in Shamrock Room
  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Bingo in Einstein’s area
  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Door prize pickup in the Burgess Room
  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Poker and other games in the Meramec-Gasconade Room
  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Team building with career opportunities and employer relations (COER) in the Missouri-Ozark Room
  • 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Raffle, popcorn, wellness table, Staff Council table and a jam session with Nellie Wilson, all in the Havener Atrium

Buy or borrow a copy of the book and read the first two chapters by Thursday, May 31. Remove bikes from campus racks by June 2

University Police would like to clear all campus bike racks before the start of the summer session of classes on Monday, June 4. Please remove all bikes from campus racks by 6 a.m. Saturday, June 2. University Police will remove any remaining bikes later that day. Abandoned bikes will be held at the University Police office in the Campus Support Facility for six months.
