University Police recently received reports of a scam targeting international students. The scam involves someone who claims to be with law enforcement (e.g. police, sheriff, etc.) calling students and threatening arrest for breaking a law or not paying a tax.

Alertus available for download on personal computers

Missouri S&T’s desktop notification system, named Alertus, delivers emergency notifications to all IT-managed S&T desktops and laptops. These computers include classroom computers, faculty and staff computers, computer learning center (CLC) workstations, and computers in residential halls and Greek housing. If you use a personal computer or laptop at S&T, you can now download Alertus on your PC so that you will receive the computer notifications on this device, too. Sheppard, Shannon honored during Woman of the Year luncheon

Dr. Kate Sheppard, associate professor of history and political science, was named the 2019 Woman of the Year during an awards ceremony held April 24 at Hasselmann Alumni House. During the ceremony, Dr. Katie Shannon was presented the Dr. Elizabeth Cummins Women’s Advocate Award. Shannon is an associate teaching professor of biological sciences and director of the Laboratory of Cytokinesis at S&T.

Chair of teacher education and certification announced

Dr. Beth Kania-Gosche, formerly the associate dean of the School of Education and professor of education at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, has been named founding chair of the department of teacher education and certification at Missouri S&T. Her appointment begins July 1.

Today: Get a look inside the expanded fitness center

The campus community is invited to celebrate the expansion of S&T’s fitness center at a dedication ceremony at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, April 25. After a short ribbon-cutting ceremony, you can tour the renovated facility. The expanded facility will open to serve S&T students, faculty and staff in early May.
