Book looks at mid-career faculty

An S&T professor co-edited a collection of scholarly articles, Mid-Career Faculty — Trends, Barriers, and Possibilities, that was recently published by Brill.

The book is co-edited by the following scholars:

  • Dr. Daniel Reardon, associate professor of English and technical communication at S&T
  • Dr. Anita G. Welch, dean of the College of Education, Wayne State University
  • Dr. Jocelyn Bolin, associate professor of educational psychology and director of educational psychology graduate programs at Ball State University

The works of 24 authors make up an examination of the lives of mid-career faculty, the largest segment of academia, to chart clearer paths to job advancement and satisfaction. By exploring the lives of post-tenure mid-career faculty, the authors offer suggestions for policies and practices in higher education to strengthen institutions by fostering and maintaining this workforce. The book is designed for faculty leaders, administration, policymakers and anyone concerned with the future of higher education
