University Police received reports recently of several phone scams. The scammers typically request the identifier information to “verify” an issue or demand immediate repayment for a debt with some type of threat if the payment is not immediately made.

Today is deadline to request educational assistance

The Educational Assistance and Tuition Reduction Program is available to eligible employees, their spouse and dependents, and retirees. In March 2020, the UM System Office of Human Resources updated its request process for the program. To request the benefit, participants must submit a request form for each semester by the semester deadline, outlined below.

Fall enrollment over 7,600, applications up for 2021

The fall 2020 enrollment at Missouri S&T, officially recorded at the end of the semester’s fourth week, is 7,645. This is a 5.6% decrease over last year’s fall enrollment of 8,096. However, applications for the 2021 school year are up more than 21.4% over this time last year, which could indicate an increase in enrollment for next school year.

Speak Spanish? Join “El Conversatorio”

The arts, languages and philosophy department invites the Spanish-speaking community at S&T to participate in a one-hour informal virtual talk. This initiative is called El Conversatorio as in Spanish “conversar” means to discuss and share ideas in a group setting. The Fall 2020 series of El Conversatorio will take place every three weeks on Thursdays, starting Oct. 1. A Zoom link and password will be provided, and all meetings begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.
