There will be a power outage 6-8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in Parker Hall. Due to an equipment upgrade, the entire electrical system will be turned off during this time. Building occupants should turn off all electrical equipment the evening of Monday, Nov. 25, before leaving for the day. During the outage, there will be no light, elevator or computer usage. Applications for the Administrative Leadership Development Program (ALDP) need to be submitted by Friday, Dec. 6. Find more information, including the ALDP brochure and applications, online. This deadline will enable the program to avoid the holiday season and allow a better schedule for the participants’ pre-retreat work.

Register to participate in a day of service that commemorates Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK Day of Service 2014 will be held Monday, Jan. 20. Participants will be served a hot breakfast, followed by a call to action. Volunteers will be split into groups and provide service to community partners in need in the Phelps County area. The S&T athletic department will show the Lady Miner’s volleyball match against Indianapolis in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at noon Friday, Nov. 22, in the Hall of Fame Room on the lower level of the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. Any faculty or staff member that is interested in watching the match is welcome to stop by and cheer on the team. The match will be broadcast live from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

Miner Challenge is spreading holiday cheer this year by hosting a bake sale and pictures with Santa. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, on the second floor of the Havener Center in the student life commons. There will be treats, Christmas music and pictures with Santa Claus. Items in the bake sale will vary in costs between $.50 and $3, pictures with Santa will be $5 per print and donations will also be accepted. Pictures are printed on-site and emailed to you if you’d like. If you’d prefer a photo without Santa, you can have a family picture taken with a winter backdrop. Two open meetings are scheduled about the Campus Master Plan on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The first will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and the second will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., both in St. Pat’s Ballroom B of the Havener Center. Soft drinks will be provided. The focus of these meetings will be to discuss preliminary findings and campus alternatives for the Master Plan. Your participation in the development of the Master Plan is encouraged.

S&T Staff Council is sponsoring GRACE for Christmas. GRACE (Greater Rolla Area Community Enterprise) provides food, clothing and toys for the less fortunate in the local community every year. Assistance is provided to more than 700 families. Donate via the drop boxes between Monday, Nov. 11, and Monday, Dec. 2. Boxes will be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and delivered to GRACE.
