The International Journal of Philosophical Practice published an article by Ross Channing Reed in its Fall 2017 issue. Reed is a lecturer of arts, languages and philosophy. His paper is titled “Depression, Anxiety, Powerlessness and Irrational Belief in Unlimited Individual Possibility as a Consequence of Ubiquitous Systemic Terror.”

What happens in Vegas … gets published

Dr. Larry Gragg penned a chapter titled “Avoid Advertising the Obvious: Gambling and the Chamber of Commerce Promotion of Las Vegas in the 1950s” for the book All In. Gragg is a Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor emeritus of history. The book is a collection of essays that explores five aspects of American gambling history: crime, advertising, politics, religion and identity.

Seven S&T staff selected for leadership development program

The University of Missouri System’s 2018 participants in the Dr. Elson S. Floyd Administrative Leadership Development Program (ALDP) have been selected. Participants include administrative staff members at the four UM System campuses, the University of Missouri System and the University of Missouri Health System. Nesbitt named ‘Missouri Mother of the Year’

American Mothers Inc. named Joan Nesbitt Missouri Mother of the Year. Nesbitt is the vice chancellor for University Advancement at S&T. Along with honorees from each state, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, Nesbitt will be honored at the American Mothers National Convention April 22-24 in Washington, D.C.

Oerther elected vice chair of Phelps County Extension Council

27 faculty honored for excellence

Twenty-seven Missouri S&T faculty members were honored for excellence and achievement in research, service and teaching during an awards ceremony Feb. 13 on campus. Each award winner received a monetary stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions.
