Weight Watchers offers discount, plans open house

Employees who pay by Tuesday, Aug. 15, can get a discount for a 12-series membership in Weight Watchers, which will start Tuesday, Sept. 12. The series regularly costs $156 but those paying by Aug. 15 can sign up for $132.60, or three checks of $44.20. To get the discount, bring your payment to Paige Eissinger, senior media producer, in Room 102 Centennial Hall, or contact Eissinger or Peg Wilson, manager of network services, to make arrangements. Payments will not be processed until the week of Sept. 12.

Flags to fly at half-staff Aug. 12

By order of Gov. Eric Greitens, all flags at all state and government offices will be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset Saturday, Aug. 12, in honor of Gary L. Michael. A police officer, Michael died in the line of duty on Aug. 6.

Location changed for today’s picnic

Parking lot to close temporarily for fireworks display

To celebrate students moving in, the Residential Hall Association will host a move-in bash 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, on the Havener Center lawn. The event will include a fireworks display. To allow for the fireworks, Area M Lot 36 near McNutt Hall will close at noon and must be empty by 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. For more information, contact parking operations at 341-4303.

S&T to host solar eclipse watch party

A solar eclipse will cut across the United States on Monday, Aug. 21, the first day of classes at Missouri S&T. The university will welcome campus and community members to observe the event on the Havener Center lawn 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The near-total eclipse will peak at 1:15 p.m. at S&T, when the moon obscures 99.8 percent of the sun. Join your fellow colleagues to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event on the Havener Center lawn. The S&T Store has a limited number of eclipse glasses for sale, as does the S&T Astronomical Research Society (STARS), a student organization. Marketing and communications will also hand out a limited supply of sunglasses the day of the eclipse at Havener Center.
