Did you know that as faculty and staff, you can report student career outcomes to career opportunities and employer relations (COER)? The career outcomes survey is not just a COER issue, it’s a campus issue. If you have information on where a student is going after graduation, you can report it to COER so that more outcomes can be recorded. The Hispanic Film Series, offered by the arts, languages, and philosophy department, will conclude with a screening of the comedic yet bittersweet Mexican film “Paradise.” The film begins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, in Room 104 Physics Building. The event is free of charge.

Dr. Steven L. Grant, the Roy A. Wilkens Missouri Telecommunications Professor in electrical and computer engineering at Missouri S&T, died Sunday, April 24. Dr. Grant, who joined the S&T faculty in 2004, earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Missouri S&T in 1979. He also held a master of science degree from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, both in electrical engineering. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Counseling, disability support and student wellness (CDSW) will hold three on-campus interviews for the open counselor/psychologist position. Missouri S&T faculty and staff are invited to attend each candidate’s presentation with an open forum immediately following. The presentations and open forums will all be held in Room 305 Norwood Hall as follows:

Dr. Maria Klawe, president of Harvey Mudd College and creator of an initiative to get more women to study computer science, will visit Missouri S&T today (Monday, April 25) to deliver a public lecture titled “Getting more women into tech careers.” Klawe will speak at 10 a.m. Monday in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center.

The final session of the early faculty professional development series “Learning Management System Basics for Early Career Faculty,” will be held 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, in Room 103 Curtis Laws Wilson Library. Missouri S&T’s Center for Enterprise Resource Planning has partnered with Deloitte to host quarter three of the SAP Simulation Competition on Thursday, April 14. Deloitte’s consultants mentored the student teams during the competition, giving them insight and suggestions on business strategies to help the teams beat their competition.
