NSF program director to speak Sept. 3
Dr. Kishor Mehta, a National Science Foundation program director and a member of the National Academy of Engineering, will visit campus on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to give two lectures as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series organized by the System and Process Assessment Research (SPAR) Laboratory. The Missouri S&T bands and orchestras start regular practices during the first week of classes. All interested instrumentalists are welcome to come to any practices during Opening Week or the first week of classes to join or find out more about the groups. All groups are currently accepting new members.

The Missouri S&T Men’s Chorus is open to all men on campus whether faculty, staff or students. Led by Lorie Francis, a lecturer of music, the group will meet noon-12:50 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in Room 138 Castleman Hall.
Read More »Dunk a cop for Special Olympics
The St. Pat’s Committee will host a dunking booth during Minerama to raise money for Special Olympics. For a small donation, you get a chance to dunk a police or parking officer. The dunking booth will be located near the Puck during Minerama, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29. The cost is 50 cents a ball or three balls for $1. All proceeds will benefit the Missouri Special Olympics.

The department formerly known as geological sciences and engineering has a new name: the department of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering, or GGPE for short. The new name reflects the broader mission of the department and incorporates one of the campus’s fastest-growing programs, petroleum engineering. For now, the department can be found at the same web address, gse.mst.edu.
