Dr. Dan Lin and Dr. Zhaozheng Yin were recently named Daniel St. Clair Faculty Fellows by the computer science department. Daniel St Clair Faculty Fellows are rising stars – either an assistant professor in years three to six after appointment at Missouri S&T, or a tenured associate professor within four years of tenure/promotion. The award comes with the title Daniel St. Clair Faculty Fellow and a $10,000 annual discretionary fund each year for two years.

Missouri S&T’s TelePresence room, Room 201-A of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library, will undergo equipment upgrading between July 27 and July 31. During this time, the TelePresence equipment will be unavailable.

In 2016, the University of Missouri System will give faculty and staff a discount on medical insurance premiums if they can certify that individuals and family members covered under an insurance plan are tobacco free. Participants will be asked to certify during October’s annual enrollment. Find tobacco cessation help online at http://umurl.us/tobacco. Many free and low-cost options are available, even if you aren’t enrolling in a medical insurance plan.

Over 260 participants will visit campus during the next two weeks for Project Lead The Way (PLTW). Parking lot operations asks the campus for patience with parking availability during this time. Brian Smith, a mechanical trades specialist (MTS)-refrigeration mechanic in student affairs auxiliary services, was recently in a serious accident while riding his motorcycle. Smith now needs several surgeries and faces a lengthy recovery. The Rider’s Society, a registered student organization on campus, has created a gofundme.com account to aid in Smith’s recovery.
