New onboarding resources are available to the campus community.

A new onboarding tile has been added to the human resources website. This tile provides access to four key resources designed to support new employees and their supervisors:

  • Preparing for your new employee checklist
  • Onboarding agenda guidance and template
  • Sample welcome emails to new employees
  • Supervisor resources.

A revised New Employee Checklist for Success is also available to help new hires prepare for their first days on campus.

What’s new in onboarding?

Several updates have been implemented to the onboarding process:

  • Meal voucher and polo shirt: Full-time, benefit-eligible new hires receive a meal voucher and a campus polo at New Employee Orientation. These items are funded centrally by campus; no departmental budget is required.
  • Miner ID card process simplified: Human resources now automatically process Miner ID cards for new employees. Departments are no longer charged for ID cards, and the IOF form is no longer needed.
  • Early vehicle registration: New hires can register their vehicles before their start date. This includes one week of complimentary universal parking.

Looking ahead: Continuous improvement

These updates are part of a broader initiative to improve the onboarding process across campus. Feedback from departments regarding onboarding challenges and internal tools has helped shape these improvements.

The assistant directors of business administration, in collaboration with information technology and human resources, are developing a system to ensure new employees receive access to all needed resources efficiently.
