Recently Missouri S&T’s COVID-19 Incident Command Team (ICT)  announced updated guidelines for in-person classes during the summer session, which align more closely with the latest direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and with campus guidelines for outdoor spaces, offices and conference rooms, and common areas.

Student leaders representing nine S&T organizations, and campus administration have been engaging in conversations about how to open next fall with the best means for the campus to achieve its goal of a safe, healthy fall with minimal risk to students, faculty, staff and visitors. They have identified a goal of achieving a vaccination rate of 85% or higher among students for the Fall 2021 semester. The group announced the goal in a message to all students on May 26.

“Collectively, we’ve identified a goal of operating with the greatest amount of freedom possible within the campus for fall,” the letter reads. “That would mean sports events, comedy shows, socials, symposia and our traditional events all return!”

The rate will be determined from self-reports by students via S&T’s student health portal, mst.studenthealthportal.com. Follow Student Involvement on Instagram (@sandtinvolvement). Progress reports will be shared leading up to the beginning of the semester, with the first report planned the week of Monday, July 5.
